A group of my friends united to purchase a Hot Air balloon Flight to remind me that age is all in the mind.
Despite during my career having travelled tens of thousands of air miles and having no anxieties as regard this form of transport as a lifelong vertigo sufferer I must admit to being slightly apprehensive of ascending in a hot air balloon.
However I need not have worried as the ground crew and especially the pilot on this flight allayed my fears by their enthusiasm and thoroughly professional approach to all aspects of ballooning (even before we set off) and throughout the flight.
Once in the air, and apart from the occasional “burn” needed to keep us buoyant, I was truly amazed at the profound serenity and calming effect that this mode of flight offers. It appears that all passengers on our flight were also novices and some were also afraid of heights but we soon agreed that the wonderful experience of calmly floating across the countryside below us rapidly dispelled all our qualms.
I cannot express my gratitude enough (to all concerned) in making my initiation into the world of hot air ballooning such a memorable and agreeable moment to savour in my senior years. Well done to all the team and many thanks for all your assistance in making the day such an outstanding occasion.”
