New Year’s Eve Celebrations in the South West

It’s shocking how fast 2017 has gone, but believe it or not, we’re almost up to New Year’s Eve again! We’ve had a fantastic year flying our customers in our fleet of hot air balloons over the South West, and we are looking forward to doing the same in 2018. If you’re looking to start your year off with a celebration there are several places on our list to don your fancy dress, top off your champagne glass and watch the fireworks after the clock strikes 12!

• St. Ives, a small Cornish town, hosts one of the biggest fancy-dress parties in Cornwall with live bands and food stall set up around the town’s centre. A spectacular firework display will glitter over the harbour after the New Year’s countdown.
• The town of Newquay comes alive on New Year’s Eve as residents and visitors honour a time old-tradition, wearing fancy dress through town for the celebrations. Join others in counting down to midnight in the Central Square the gaze up at the impressive fireworks over the harbour.
• If you want to celebrate New Year’s with all the family Looe’s special firework display at 6 pm is perfect for those that can’t stay up until midnight.  After you’ve rung in New Year’s watch the midnight firework display from the beach adding to the already brilliantly lit fishing boats in the harbour.

Don’t worry if you’re scared of heights, flying in a hot air balloon is nothing to fear. As you lift off the ground, the gondola (basket) will generally slide a little bit, but you can’t really feel yourself going up. The flight is smooth and relaxing as the hot air balloon moves with the wind, so it is like your standing still but with 365-degree panoramic views as your backdrop. We have flown hundreds of people who were nervous about heights and all of them have ended up having the experience of a lifetime.
